A PERSONAL LETTER FROM DAN LUTCHANSKY

Dear Reader:

It is amazing how many products and services, including coaching, are sold on the Internet promising to make you a millionaire or to double or even triple your business in a short time. Am I missing something?

If the promise of a “quick and easy buck” is the only thing that motivates you to take action, you are better off playing the lottery. Your chance to “get rich quick” is about the same, but you won’t be risking your life savings or your self-esteem.

After more than 25 years advising small business owners, I know very few individuals who became wealthy quickly. It takes effort, insight, and assistance from the right resources.

Of course, many of my clients have become successful, earning a very good living while enjoying their work. In fact, several are quite rich, at least by my standards. Most earned their success by going through the school of hard knocks. There are things you don’t know and experience will be your best teacher.

It is difficult not to call myself the “anti-coach.” Read on and you will understand why. Too many coaches preach that the key to success is to have a vision firmly implanted in your mind. They cite example after example of successful people who knew where they wanted to go. We read about them all of the time.

Most individuals who failed in business can also remember having a vision and setting goals. You don’t read books written about the people that failed because no one wants to read about failure. It taps into our own fears. We prefer to dream about success.

Goal setting and a vision are common elements of both the superstars and the benchwarmers. So go ahead, visualize what you want to achieve, whether that is a specific amount of money or to be in control of your own destiny. It is unimportant to me how you personally define winning. It should matter a great deal to you what your winning would look like. After all, it is your life so build the one of your dreams.

Think about winning for just a fleeting second every day. Remind yourself that you want to take home the trophy of a better life. Then get to work to accomplish all of the little tasks that will lead you there. What will make you successful in business is what you do every day and how well you do it.

I have examined my life in business and arrived at the conclusion that there are two kinds of people that make it in their own business.

The first kind is the person who has in his or her emotional makeup certain personality traits that work well in business. This individual is the “natural.”

The second kind acquires those personality traits that are required for success in business. This is something that is learned and gives hope to the rest of us.

These characteristics are what drives an individual to acquire the necessary skills and technical know-how required to manage all facets of a business. Building a successful and sustainable small business requires you to learn and implement a complete small business solution.

Everything written here is in my book. It touches most people who are looking for the truth. It won’t touch anyone looking for instant cures because there aren’t any. I do tell the truth, as I know it, on the steps you must take to build a financially rewarding and personally satisfying business.

Very Sincerely,

Dan Lutchansky
