“Life itself is a matter of salesmanship”

Thomas J. Watson

Small Business Taxes and Accounting Pie Chart

Making Salespie chart

What is the most important action that takes place in business? Selling! This is the moment when the agreement to exchange money is made.

What is the #1 cause of failure in small business? The lack of sales ability!

Can you build a successful business without sales ability? Possibly, but at the very minimum you need an understanding of the sales process. Why? Because prospects have to go through it before they make a decision to buy.

Perhaps, you don’t like the idea of selling. You are not alone. Many business owners feel exactly the same way.

Let’s take a look at that attitude. Do you like salespeople? Many of us don’t because we fear that a salesperson will get us to buy something we don’t want. But it’s easy to say “no” to a product or service we don’t want. The hard part is saying “no” to a product or service we do want, but aren’t sure we should buy.

If you want your business to grow, you need to develop the skill of finding prospects who want your products or services and then persuading them to make the commitment to buy. The ability to get people to make that leap will separate you from much of your competition.

Perhaps, you think you have to lie to be successful at selling. But, what is the answer you hear most often when asking successful business owners their best source of new business? By far, the answer is “word of mouth.”

With “word of mouth,” the prospect has already been told that you do a good job and are trustworthy. Most likely, those exact words were not used to describe you, but the person making the referral implied them all.

I suggest you are not going to build a business using “word of mouth” when you lie in order to make a sale. You need to find ways to persuade people to do business with you without lying. I am here to help you learn that skill.

Wait a minute. How can a dry, boring CPA know anything about sales? Well, once you meet me or hear me speak in public, you’ll quickly realize there is not a dry or boring bone in this CPA. And I’ve been in sales all my life, and been very successful at it, so I want to teach you my secrets.

I’ve consistently broken sales records in my career and I’ve never lied or used pressure tactics to achieve that. When I worked for Dial America Marketing, Inc., the largest telemarketing company in the world with seventy offices in the United States at the time, in 3 ½ months I broke the all time sales record for sales in a week. The next week I shattered that record.

What ability did I have that allowed me to break the record? I believed in what I was selling. I was able to express myself in a very sincere and believable way. And I didn’t let my fear of rejection stop me from asking anyone to buy. Everyone fears rejection, but those successful in business fear failing even more and have the drive to prove it.

I can guide you to develop the skills necessary to become a successful business owner. After all, your success is my success and that is how I build my business with “word of mouth.” I practice what I preach.

Let’s get together and explore the possibilities.
